| Description: |
National Farm Safety Week is held to raise awareness of farm safety issues across Australia. The Farm Safety Week theme is 'Quad Bike Safety'. Over the past 10 years there have been 140 quad bike related deaths. Sadly, for 2011, there were 18 farm quad bike related farm fatalities. This has exceeded the number of tractor related fatalities.
Farmsafe Australia members are united in efforts to reduce the deaths and injuries associated with quad bike use. This theme continues to highlight the importance of business and industry working together to achieve the Farmsafe mission / vision statement of improving the well-being of Australian farmers through improved attention to health and safety.
The 'Quad Bike Safety' theme is reflected in the membership of Farmsafe, by the wide range of work that is being conducted in research, education and extension of farm health and safety.
Farm Safety Week has been running successfully for the past 14 years and has provided an opportunity for the Farmsafe Australia network to utilise the media and hold farm safety days address farm safety with a national focus. |
