Description
Koori Maternity Services provide flexible, inclusive and culturally safe pregnancy and postnatal care for Victorian Aboriginal women, babies and their families.
Developed by the Victorian Government, in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, Koori Maternity Services are designed to support families throughout pregnancy and the early postnatal period.
Koori Maternity Services offer:
- Aboriginal‑led care shaped by the knowledge, leadership and expertise of Aboriginal communities.
- Continuity of carer with a known midwife and Aboriginal health worker or practitioner supporting women throughout pregnancy and up to six weeks after birth.
- Collaborative care delivered in partnership with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), general practitioners, hospitals and other community‑based services.
- Flexible and responsive support tailored to individual needs.
Eligibility
Available to all Aboriginal women, women having Aboriginal babies and families in Victoria.
