Description
Aged persons mental health (APMH) services are for people with a longstanding mental illness who are now over 65 years of age, or who have developed functional illnesses such as depression and psychosis in later life. They are also for people with psychiatric or severe behavioural difficulties associated with organic brain disorders such as dementia.

Eligibility
To be eligible for an APMH service you must be:
aged 65 years or older
have a longstanding mental illness or have developed one later in life.

APMH services may be partly or fully covered by Medicare.
APMH services fees are covered by some private health funds, but the amount will depend on your insurance policy. Contact your insurer for information.
