Description
The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS is an Australian Government interpreting service for people who do not speak English and for organisations (including medical and health practitioners, and emergency services) that need to communicate with their non-English speaking clients or service users.
TIS National has access to interpreters across Australia, who speak more than 160 different languages and dialects.

- An automated voice-prompted immediate phone interpreting service
- Pre-booked phone or on-site interpreter
- Irregular Maritime Arrival (IMA) interpreting

Available to anyone in Australia.
How to access
Call 13 14 50.
The National Relay (NRS) Speak and Listen service is available to help callers with a hearing or speech impairment. Call 1300 555 727 then ask for 13 14 50.
Costs
Calls are charged at the cost of a local call.
Calls from mobile phones may be charged at a higher rate.
Most TIS National interpreting services are free for non-English speakers. The cost is covered by the organisation you are trying to contact.
