The Transport Accident Commission is a Victorian Government-owned organisation whose role is to support people who have been injured in a transport accident, promote road safety and improve Victoria's trauma system.
If you have been injured in a transport accident speak to your hospital's Patient Liaison officer; the TAC on 1300 654 329 or visit the TAC website to find out what to do after an accident.
The TAC pays for the treatment and support services you need to get your life back on track after a transport accident. This includes medical treatment, rehabilitation and disability services and things like home services and child care. Discuss with your healthcare team the most appropriate treatments for you. When someone dies in a transport accident
If you have lost a family member in a transport accident the TAC can help by providing information, financial support and advice.
The TAC can provide support with funeral costs and counselling services. The TAC may also provide financial support for dependants.
Interstate accidents
If you were involved in a transport accident that occurred outside the state of Victoria you may be entitled to TAC benefits if you are a Victorian resident or a passenger in a Victorian registered vehicle.
