  • In Victoria, mpox vaccine is recommended and is available for free for people at high risk of exposure to mpox.
  • Refer to Victorian Department of Health Mpox (monkeypox)External Link for vaccination eligibility criteria, or for more information on mpox see the Better Health Channel Mpox page.
  • While mpox infection can still occur following vaccination, it reduces the risk of transmission and disease severity.
  • Two doses of mpox vaccine, given at least 28 days apart, are required for optimal protection. If you have not had a second dose, get it now.
  • Please note while the mpox vaccine is free, the consultation may not be. Speak to the immunisation provider to verify consultation-related fees and vaccine availability.
