Description

Adult prevention and recovery care (PARC) services are community-based, short-term supported residential services for people experiencing a mental health problem, but who do not need (or no longer require) a hospital admission.

Services provided

  • Early intervention
  • Residential treatment
  • Recovery-oriented treatment and support

Eligibility

To be eligible for admission to an adult PARC service you must be: eligible to access adult specialist mental health services, in the early stages of recovery from an acute mental illness, living in the community and only require short-term residential support.

Costs

PARC services may be partly or fully covered by MedicareExternal Link .

PARC fees are covered by some private health funds, but the amount will depend on your insurance policy. Contact your insurer for information.

Contact the service before you attend if you would like more information about cost.

Tip

  • If you feel you cannot cope at home, ask your psychiatrist if you can move into a PARC facility.
