Nurse-on-Call 1300 60 60 24 is a free helpline that will connect you with a registered nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
You should call Nurse-on-Call if you need immediate, expert health advice when:
- you or someone you're caring for is feeling unwell
- it's the middle of the night and you are not sure if you should seek medical help
- you're away from home or situated a long way from medical help
- you simply want advice or information about health services in your area.
You can call Nurse-on-Call on 1300 60 60 24 to discuss any health-related issue anywhere in Victoria.
What happens when you call 1300 60 60 24
Step 1 – A registered nurse will answer your call and collect some basic details.
Step 2 – The nurse will ask you questions about your symptoms and other issues relating to your health.
Step 3 – At the end of the call the nurse may suggest ways you can care for yourself, advise you to contact a GP or, if your condition is very serious, transfer your call to Triple Zero (000).
Nurse-on-Call nurses will not provide a full diagnosis of your symptoms.
They will use the most up-to-date health information available, and give you the best advice possible.
Any information you provide will remain confidential.
If you are in a life-threatening situation and need emergency care now, call triple zero (000) or visit your nearest emergency department.

The National Relay Service (NRS) is available to help callers who are deaf, or find it hard to hear or speak to hearing people on the phone.
The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) is available (24 hours, 7 days) for callers who speak other languages. Call 131 450.
A nurse triage service called Healthdirect is also available in all other states. You can seek help outside of Victoria by calling 1800 022 222.
