Virtual Emergency Care is delivered by the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department. It is available for both adults and children.
You will be connected with an emergency doctor or nurse via video call from your computer or mobile phone.
You do not need a referral from your GP, a Medicare card or an appointment to access Virtual Emergency Care through the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department.

How to access the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department
- Make sure that you have access to a device with a camera (mobile phone, computer, laptop or tablet).
- Access the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department website's Patients page.
- Click the ’Register now’ link.
- Complete the registration form.
- A link to the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department waiting room will be sent to you via SMS and email:
- Click on link to open HealthDirect.
- Click 'Start Video Call' to enter the waiting room.
- Enter your details and click 'Continue'.
- Wait for one of the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department team to pick up your call.
